FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY

USING THE BUILT-IN FLASH UNIT

Die Leica X has a built-in ﬂash unit. When not in use, it is retracted

into the camera housing and turned oﬀ. To take pictures using the

ﬂash it must be extended:

Press the release slider towards the center of the camera

The ﬂash unit then pops up automatically into its working position and

is also turned on.

• The display for the set ﬂash mode appears in white. If the ﬂash unit

is not yet fully charged and therefore is not ready, it ﬂashes in red

for a short time.

Whenever you want to take pictures without ﬂash, leave it retracted or

press it down carefully until it clicks into place.

Notes:

• To determine the ﬂash exposure a metering ﬂash is ﬁred immedi-

ately before taking the picture - and the main ﬂash.

• Continuous series of pictures and automatic bracketing are not

possible when using ﬂash. In such cases, even when the ﬂash unit

is extended no ﬂash display appears and the ﬂash is not ﬁred.
